Sand Creek Station
Golf Course in Newton, KS has been selected to host the
2012 National Junior College Athletic Association Men’s Golf
National Championship, which takes place May 15-18. The nation’s
top-ranked junior college men’s golf teams will compete in a
four-day stroke play championship at Sand Creek Station for the
2012 NJCAA title.

Paul
Hooser, former head golf professional at Leawood South Country
Club, is now Director of Instruction for the City of Overland
Park Golf Division. Paul is a highly respected golf instructor
and longtime member of the Midwest Section PGA.

January 30, 2012 - Ellen Port
grew up in the Kansas City area where she was a high school star
in basketball and tennis. She didn't start playing competitive
golf until she was in her early 20s. Four USGA titles and
numerous local and national accomplishments later, she will be
inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday in
Springfield, Mo. Port also has competed in two Curtis Cups
(1994, 1996), qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur 10 times
and the U.S. Women's Open three times. Port now resides in the
St. Louis area. Congratulations, Ellen!

January 26, 2012 - Kansas
City Golf Guide is reporting that Steve McMillen has
resigned as Executive Director of the Kansas City Golf
Association to take a new job as Executive Director of the
Kentucky Section of the PGA. The Kentucky Section PGA and the
Kentucky Golf Association (KGA) are joined at the hip, and
McMillen will also be involved with the KGA. |

January 18, 2012 - The 2012 Kansas
City Golf Guide is now in production. The publication,
which has been the "Official Golf Guide of the Kansas City
Convention and Visitors Association" since 1996, will be
available in late February. |

January 18, 2012 -
Bent Oak Golf Club in Oak Grove, MO has closed
indefinitely. According to its website, Bent Oak Golf Club may reopen at a
future date if conflicts are resolved. |
